Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter is pleased to announce that the
Yavapai County Broadband Initiative (YCBI) is working with Sparklight to begin the
installation of Broadband, both aerial and underground, in the Verde Villages in early
December. This is being funding with an allocation from a federal grant entitled the
American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). This will provide high speed broadband service to the
property line of 4411 passings (homes and businesses), along the north and south side of
Arizona Highway 260 just east of Cottonwood.
The Yavapai County leadership of YCBI and Sparklight will be hosting three meetings,
which replicate each other, in the cafeteria of Mingus Union High School at 6 pm on the
following dates, November 25 and 26. We greatly appreciate Mingus Union allowing the
use their facility. Information will be provided by Yavapai County staff about the history
of the project, what areas of the county are receiving connectivity, and the process of
selecting the contractors. Sparklight staff will then describe the build, which will begin
on December 2 nd , and describe the process they will follow, along with information about
their service, and the projected dates of completion. Printed materials will be distributed,
and question will be taken from those in attendance.
The meetings are scheduled for;
Monday, November 25, Mingus Union High School Cafeteria, 6-7:30 pm
Tuesday, November 26, Mingus Union High School Cafeteria, 6-7:30 pm

🌟 CCS 21st CCLC After-School Clubs Spotlight! 🌟
Our Mask Making Club is getting chilly creative this week! ❄️🎭 The kiddos have been hard at work crafting their own versions of "Old Man Winter." From frosty beards to icy-blue designs, their imaginations are bringing the spirit of winter to life!

OCS 21 CCLC Afterschool Clubs want to recognize the Be Creative Club this week. Audra Rose is our Leader and our students learn art and how to express it in different ways. Sometimes the projects are painted shrinky dinks, sometimes we the project is clay art and food projects. This week the kids did the highly favored Apple Turkey.

Good evening DDB families! Some changes are happening with two of our routes... Mountain Lion and Road Runner. If your student rides either of these routes, please check them both on the COCSD website, as some stops have been switched to the other bus. Times have changed for both routes. This change will go into effect starting Monday, 11/18. We hope this change is smooth and beneficial for everyone. Thank you!

Good evening OCS families. I am happy to let you know we WILL have Antelope route back in service tomorrow, Fri 11/15. Again we apologize for the inconvenience the past couple of days, and appreciate your patience with this. - Daniel Maldonado, Transportation Director

Good afternoon OCS families... unfortunately our driver for the Antelope route is still sick and won't be in tomorrow. As we already have other key staff out, we will not have coverage for the Antelope route tomorrow, Thurs 11/14. Please find alternate means of transportation for students to get to and from school. Keep an eye on here to find out if we will have our driver back for Friday. We appreciate your patience with this situation. - Daniel Maldonado, Transportation Director.

🌞 COCSD Summer Team at the NSLA Summit in DC! 🌞
Our COCSD Summer Team is hard at work at the National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) Summit in Washington, D.C., bringing fresh ideas and vision to create another incredible summer learning program!
🎉 Camp Innovation was a tremendous success, and we’re proud to share that Heather Wacker, principal at Cottonwood Community School, presented valuable data on securing resources, funding, and partnerships for rural communities—particularly here in Arizona. COCSD is now recognized as a national leader in summer learning!
🌟 We invite everyone to read the Camp Innovation Impact Report and learn about the positive impact on our district’s students. With this data, we’re gearing up for another summer of amazing learning experiences and blazing new trails for summer learning across Arizona! All of this was funded with the 21st CCLC’s Best Summer Ever! Innovation Enhancement grant.
👏 Congratulations to the COCSD Team for their outstanding work!

DDB celebrated Red Ribbon Week with twin day on Monday and beach day on Tuesday!

Oak Creek School PTO wants to thank everyone who donated candy, cupcakes, and their time to OCS' Halloween Carnival & Haunted House this week! OCS PTO raised a little over $1,400 for Oak Creek School. Mrs. Ludden raised $150 for their Agriculture/Culinary program! Thank you to Low-Income Student Aid, Inc. for offering vouchers to our students. We love that LISA believes in inclusion. Kindergarten (Badger) is OCS's 1st place winner of the school's candy contest, and Mrs. Bond (3rd) is their 2nd place winner! 🎃

A Makerspace is an area that is reserved for creative exploration, engineering, tinkering, and inventing. Makerspaces incorporate engineering materials, crafting materials, technology, robotics, and more. Low Income Student Aid, Inc. (LISA) was able to fund the materials needed to create such space at Cottonwood Community School!

We are thrilled to announce that our district has achieved an incredible letter grade of A! This outstanding accomplishment reflects the hard work, dedication, and passion of our entire community—students, educators, staff, and families alike. Our communities' tax dollars are hard at work!
Cottonwood Community School = A*
Cottonwood Education Services/Verde Tech = A*
Dr. Daniel Bright Elementary = B**
Mountain View Preparatory = B**
Oak Creek Elementary School = A*
"A" schools fall into the "Distinguished" category and "B" schools fall into "Highly Performing"
