There’s a mysterious box truck camped out in the courtyard at Verde Tech. We’re not sure whether to be excited or concerned. All we know is: Monday, it’s getting unloaded... and if you hear clucking, just know — it’s all part of the plan. 🚛 #VerdeTech #OperationTurkeyTrot

📞🎉 Happy National Telephone Day! 🎉📞 Today we celebrate one of the most important inventions in human history — the telephone! In 1876, Alexander Graham Bell made the very first phone call, famously saying to his assistant, "Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you." That moment sparked a communication revolution that continues to evolve to this day. From those early hand-cranked telephones to rotary dials, cordless phones, and today's smartphones that fit powerful computers into our pockets — telephone technology has come a LONG way! 📱✨ We've moved from simple voice communication to video chats, text messages, and instant global connections. Here are some fun ways you can celebrate National Telephone Day: 📞 Call a loved one you haven't spoken to in a while — just to say hello! 📸 Post a photo of your favorite vintage or modern phone. 🔍 Learn more about Alexander Graham Bell and the history of the telephone. ☎️ Challenge yourself to use a rotary phone if you can find one! 💬 Share a story about the most important or memorable phone call you've ever made. 🧹 Give your smartphone a little TLC — clean your screen, update your apps, and clear out old messages. Let’s take a moment to appreciate the amazing journey from Bell’s first call to the world of communication we live in today. 💬🌍 #NationalTelephoneDay #ThankYouMrBell #FromRotaryToSmartphones

🌍 Happy Earth Day 2025 from Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District! 🌿 Today, we join millions around the world in celebrating the beauty and wonder of our planet. At COCSD, we believe every student has the power to make a difference—whether it’s planting a tree, picking up litter, learning about recycling, or simply appreciating the natural world around them. Our students are always engaged in meaningful activities like campus clean-ups, garden projects, and creating nature-inspired art and science. These hands-on experiences not only support learning, but also help foster a lifelong respect for the environment. Let’s keep the spirit of Earth Day alive every day by continuing to care for our environment and inspiring each other to be thoughtful stewards of the world we share. 💚🌱 #EarthDay2025 #COCSDCares #LoveWhereYouLive #GrowingTogether

📣 COCSD Responds to New Arizona Laws on School Nutrition & Student Cell Phone Use 📱🥦 Big changes are coming to Arizona schools—and Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District is already ahead of the game! 🍎 Nutrition Update: Governor Katie Hobbs just signed the Arizona Healthy Schools Act (HB 2164), which bans ultra-processed foods with certain additives and dyes in public schools by the 2026–2027 school year. This includes ingredients like Red Dye No. 40, titanium dioxide, and potassium bromate. At COCSD, we’ve already started making moves: ✅ Popsicles were removed from school menus in March ✅ No vending machines are currently available to students ✅ Our food partner, Sodexo, is reviewing all products to ensure compliance “Our students’ health is a top priority,” says Superintendent Jessica Vocca. “We’re proud to be ahead of the curve.” 📵 Cell Phone Policy Update: A second new law, HB 2484, aims to limit student cell phone and social media use during the school day. COCSD is already implementing a check-in system where students hand over their phones to their homeroom teacher at the start of the day—helping to minimize distractions and support stronger classroom focus. “We’ve already seen improvements in engagement and peer interaction,” adds Superintendent Vocca. We’ll continue to follow state guidance and keep families informed as these policies roll out. #COCSD #StudentHealth #ArizonaSchools #HealthySchoolsAct #CellPhonePolicy #FocusedLearning #WeAreCOCSD
